to Prairie Pocket Gardens, Hesston's Community Wildlife Habitat Certification Project!

Butterfly Milkweed

Join dozens of other property owners in Hesston who are welcoming wildlife into their backyards, schools, workplaces and communities. A Wildlife Habitat site offers the four basic elements that wildlife needs to survive: food, water, cover, and places to raise young. In addition, property owners employ sustainable gardening and landscaping practices that conserve natural resources.

Help Hesston move toward Community Wildlife Habitat Certification by having your yard, school, church or business certified as Wildlife Habitat. Your participation is important!

  • It will help us achieve our vision, "To create an urban design that introduces and preserves a mosaic of prairie landscapes for the mutual benefit of people, plants and the wildlife."
  • It will help us gain certification with National Wildlife Foundation's Community Wildlife Certification.
  • And, you will benefit from a dynamic, healthier, wildlife-friendly landscape.
